What I Do
I get asked a lot about what I do for my job. I'll answer with "Im a GIS Specialist for the UACD and the County" but the inquisitor will usually still follow with a "What's that?" or "So... what do you do?". Its actually a pretty hard question to answer.
I could answer this question two ways:
1. If the person asking the question has had any experience with GIS then I would say "Im doing an irrigation assessment for Cache County."
2. If the person asking the question has not had any experience with GIS then I would say "Its kinda like google earth but its not a "read-only" type of software. You can update, edit and create your own data."
ESRI, the producer of the main GIS Software, states that: A geographic information system (GIS) integrates hardware, software, and data for capturing, managing, analyzing, and displaying all forms of geographically referenced information.
Blah Blah Blah. This post is probably boring everyone to death, but there it is. Its what I do
Since we GIS people believe a "picture is worth a thousand words", here is what my computer looks like at any given time:

Oh yeah. And Im thinkin that I will be going PRIVATE with my blog pretty soon. Probably in a couple weeks, so if I dont already have your email address then please leave it as a comment!

Spring Break in St. George!
Although me and jo were taking a "break" down in stg, we both worked...
I was pretty stressed for a couple of days in stg about a grant paper i was putting together for work. Ive never written one before and the section i was working on was suppose to be 15 pages long (yikes!). Besides the grant, i was also presenting at the Utah Water User's Workshop at the Dixie Center.
Jordan had decided he would work for the ranch.
Since jo was working at the ranch Ryon (jordan's cousin) said he'd take me out on the horses. We went on a hour ride and afterwards i wanted to run the horse in the arena. I guess it had been too long since the last time i've ridden cause the whole rest of the trip my butt felt broke...not a good feeling...
Anyways...we did a lot of relaxing and hanging out with family. It was so nice to be in sunny, warm st george (while we were gone it snowed 2 ft in Logan). We had such a good time!! We even got to stay in this new bed n' breakfast place in Washington called Eden's Keep for free (its kinda like Anniversary Inn)! Check out the website this place is amazing!!!
This is the room me and jo stayed in. The story of how we got to stay there for free is kinda long, but basically we were asked if we would be the props for some photographs by Funny Face Photography in this space. As soon as i get those pics ill put some up.

Live in Logan
It's Brian Regan!!
Me Jo and the McDonalds have tickets to see Brian Regan tonight. Third row!! I am so stoked. Last time he came here to Logan I came with Ashley and Jacie and we had the very last row upstairs...the nosebleed section. It was still fun but this time i'll be able to see all his facial expressions. Yea!!
